Officially Ours!

In the most unofficial, brief, unorganized legal ceremony I have ever attended Rhylan legally became our daughter yesterday! It was a VERY full and exhausting day. It started at Civil Affairs office yesterday at 8:00 and we did not get back from the orphanage until 7:30 pm. We experienced the bullet train and had first class seating... Very nice ride!! It would have been a 4 hour trip by car, but took 1 and 1/2 hours by train.
Not sure what to say about orphanage visit except that it was hard, very hard especially when we saw her crib where she always slept. I am still processing visit myself. It was hard on Rhylan and she did not want to much to do with her caretakers. She did eventually go to some of them but was very eager to come back to my arms!
She has bonded very well with me and goes well to Chris. She resisted kids at first which shocked me, but is starting to warm up to them. She does NOT want to be put down and likes to walk which has made me tired. She is sick now with a horrible cough, runny/stuffy nose with diarrhea. We have started her on an antibiotic and pray she will start to feel better soon.
A Few Things We Know About Rhylan
She has a personality and is not afraid to tell you if she doesn't like something.
She loves to eat and is not picky about food.
She sleeps very well at night (so far).
She was loved and well cared for at orphanage.
She loves her bath.
She loves to be held.
She is shy and it takes her awhile to warm up to people.
We are so thankful she is now a cherished daughter, adored sister, and loved granddaughter!! Love from Zhengzhou, China!

  2. What an exhausting day! Congratulations! I remember the overwhelming relief when we heard officially that Alaysia was ours...all the paper work, the longing and waiting had built up to this moment and it was such a weight off my shoulders to know she was ours. It's so great to hear how well she's bonding to you!!! That is wonderful! I can imagine how hard visiting her orphanage was and all that you are processing - but going there and seeing that gives you a greater understanding of all your sweet girl has gone through. That is priceless. And it will be priceless to her that you've been there.

  8. Wow- each step of the journey is so neat to hear about! Thanks for taking the time to keep us updated. Hope you feel God with you every step of the way. Rhylan is adorable- looks like she has more hair than Josie :) I'm looking forward to when Josie gets to meet her. It will be fun to watch their friendship grow in the years to come (I looked at the calendar & Rhylan is exactly 6 weeks older than Josie). God bless your family and keep you in His care!
